Then, outside the office.

Day. Exterior.

ROY

WALT

Don’t tell.

Okay.

WALT

no one knows except for you.

ROY

WALT

ROY

the pains

ROY

wasn’t calcification, like they

ROY

WALT

something else, something eating me from the inside, eating my lungs from the inside, cells taking over cells, eating me

ROY

not much

WALT

time

ROY

tell your wife

WALT

No

ROY

should tell your wife, your kid

WALT

No one knows, board can’t know,

board can’t know, just bought a lot a land,

they think it’s for a park, but it’s for more, more than a park,

they gotta go through with it, it’s for my city, gotta do the city,

gotta do the city, gonna do this, last thing I do,

gotta do it right, gotta get it done, not much time,

they think I’m going

and going for good, they’ll say no, to whatever I say, they’ll say no,

they’ll know I’m going and going for good, can’t go, gonna go,

maybe not

ROY

But your wife

WALT

No one knows, ’cept for you, no, you tell you die, you tell I’ll kill you,

you tell you’re gone, you better not tell, not you, better,

Cut to

(WALT puts on some music: Schumann.)

(Pours vodka.)

(Takes pills.)

(Drinks vodka.)

(Smokes.)

(Looks at bloody handkerchief.)

(Gets up.)

(Takes the handkerchief over to the trashcan. Puts it in the trashcan.)

(Pulls out a wad of handkerchiefs from his back pocket. Looks for

a clean handkerchief, but . . . )

(. . . one after another, all his handkerchiefs seem to be stained with blood . . .)

(. . . one after another, he tosses out bloody handkerchiefs . . .)

(. . . finally, he finds a clean handkerchief, blows his nose, and returns to his chair.)

(Takes out another cigarette.)

(Lights it.)

(Smokes.)

(Turns off music.)

(Back to the show.)
